OK, so we had just been home to TX the week before Christmas (mom and dad's present to each other) The morning we were leaving to come back to NC Ethan wakes up conjested, and it was all down hill from there. We spent the next 3 days in a mommy hold me mode. Ethan wanted NOTHING to do with dad it he saw or knew I was in the house. Fortunatly I was able to get him into the DR with out having to go the ER and wait forever (average wait is abour 4-10 hours) So Ethan got his drugs, then later that night dad starts with the stuffy nose and progresses to the caughing. The then next day I start going down. Needless to say my house was not clean for Christmas, heck I hadn't even unpacked from our trip to TX. But we did get to see Santa at the mall, and Ethan's presents wrapped and under the tree ( need to work on stuffing stockings). Good thing we had already planed on keeping Christmas day a simple day of keeping it easy and just relaxing. Kevin did have to make a trip to the ER (wait time 3hrs, not too bad) and came home with brochites. He was also given atibiotics in case things did not get better in the next couple of days (he is taking them as we speak) I then started to get worse later that night and debated if I should take my turn at the ER, and decided, I wasn't that bad and stayed home warm and toasty in by bed. I thought we had taken more pictures of Ethan opening presents, but I guess not. It was a sight to behold, and he LOVED everything he got.

There's no place like home... There's no place like home..
So, recently we went home to TX (again). This time was just a quick visit. Two days in San Antonio and two in Del Rio. Since it was a quick trip and the current cost of gas, it was decided that we would FLY. It was going to be the same in cost, once we added everything togther, and we had our fill of road trips this past summer. This was going to be Ethan's 1st flight. When looking for airline tickets home. I found tickets for under $200 which ment I didn't feel so guilty buying Ethan his own seat. Besides, I was going to have to bring his car seat anyway, and he does really well when he is strapped in it so, it was perfect. He has become much too squirmy to be a lap child and with me being 6 mos pregnant, was not even going to attempt it. Now Kevin and I are used to boarding a plane to go somewhere for 3-4 days and only have 1 shared cary on. As we were gathering things to take with us, we come the to conclusion that our days of cary on only were long gone. Yes, we were now THOSE people. You know then ones I am talking about they have a thousand carry on bags and a toddler. And yes, we are on YOUR flight!
Picture this: 1 large suite case, a pack and play (both checked), a diaper bag, a small tote with some toys and books, an umbrella stroller, a car seat, and a cary with overnight esesstials incase we ran into weather or missconnected (all carried on the plane) and a 13 month old that does NOT want to walk.
As you can tell, he is not all that impressed in this picture and is just ITCHING to be let free. Fortunatly he was a good little flyer and is easily entertained with his car seat buckels. So we just unbuckeled him and he played for the entire flight. He did pretty well. We packed plenty of snaks since we only had a 35 min conction and were on Southwest, which ment peanuts and a drink. (I will not fly with small children on Southwest ever again). Well we made it in one piece and he only cried for a couple of minutes during the second flight.
While we were home, Granny Helen decided to have a birthday party for Ethan and for Travis since their birthdays were with in a month of each other and everyone would be home.
Jacob did a great job of helping both of them open their gifts. As you can tell, there is no Grandma and Grandpa Pressgrove, but I will get into that later.
Let's all eat cake! Ethan doesn't quite get the blowing out the candel thing, but there were cousins to help him out with that.
He has decided he likes chocolate cake
Ok, so as I was saying, Grandma and Grandpa Pressgrove were not at the party. It wasn't that we wouldn't have invited them, it was because Grandma Pressgrove didn't know we were coming. SHHHHH it was a surprise. You see, Grandma Pressgrove is the choir teacher at the high school in Del Rio and she was retiring at the end of the semester. She was having her last Christmas concert and all the Pressgrove children were comming in to SURPRISE her. They all made it except one. So as you can see, we couldn't invite her or it would ruin EVERYTHING! I have video of how the children surprised their mother, but I have yet to figure out how to get it onto the blog. As soon as I figure it out I will get it up. And the pictures I took at the Christmas concert, didn't turn out. They were either too dark or too blury... need to see if I can edit them to make them usable.
So while we were home, we took the oprotunity to engorge ourselfs on REAL Mexican food. You know what I am talking about, the taco stand on the corner where everything is homemade right down to the flour tortilla. mmmmm food. Then we had to idea to bring back some homemade tamales for Christmas Eve dinner. We have some friends here in NC that grew up in San Antonio, just as we did. We were getting to gether with another family who's dad lived in TX while growing up, and all rememeber tamales being the thing at Christmas. So we had all the same things we brought with us, now with Ethan's birthday presents and 8 dozen tameles (caried on).

Say Cheese!
So today we went to see Santa. Thought I was doing good to show up BEFORE Santa was to arrive. Boy was I WRONG!! I got there and the line looked like it might me 30 minutes. Well, Exactly 1 hour later I finnished paying for our pictures, and this was the best there was. No tears, but no smile. He kept looking at Santa with a perplexed look then at the camera with the "are we done yet" look. I guess the hour waiting in line took it's toll by the time we got to see the big guy in red. May be better luck next year for a smile.

We survived!!
Ok, so it was a time that I have been dreading. Ethan's 1st haircut. I have been putting it off and kept saying I would do it once he was one, and it was time. He was begining to look like a hippie. Hair in the eyes, and hanging below the ears. Yes, I guess it was time, before he started looking like a girl. We did really well. I didn't cry, and Ethan made it to the end before there were tears. He looks so grown up now!
